Capture of dilute methane with a novel dynamic‐feed dual‐reflux pressure swing adsorption process

Dual-reflux pressure swing adsorption (DR-PSA) is a state-of-art technology claiming to achieve both high product purity and recovery. However, its performance inevitably limited by the gas mixing problem at feed inlet position in columns, where discontinuity columns' axial concentration profiles disturbs separation. Here, we developed dynamic-feed DR-PSA (DF-DR-PSA) process solve obtain better separation introducing multiple inlets along column. The DF-DR-PSA was demonstrated enrichment methane (CH4) from binary mixture containing 2.4 mol.% CH4 nitrogen (N2) using activated carbon material. Non-isothermal dynamic models were constructed investigate effects of operating parameters on performance. results showed achieved higher (53.5% vs. 47.5%) recovery (81.1% 72.2%) over conventional same energy consumption.
